What is the Freedom of Choice Act (F.O.C.A.)?
The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) does not promote “choice”. Rather, it rescinds common sense restrictions on abortion nationwide, taking law-making freedom away from the states. If passed, FOCA would:
- Invalidate laws which ensure a woman is fully informed about abortion and protects her from unsafe abortion clinics.
- Require taxpayers to fund abortions – even late-term abortions.
- Require the State to legalize Partial-Birth Abortion and other late-term abortion procedures.
- Require the State to allow abortion procedures to be performed by non-physicians.
- Rescind laws protecting an individual’s right to conscientious objection of abortion.
- Allow minors to have abortions without parental/legal guardian consent.
